HB24-1152 Accessory Dwelling Units Guidance Published

DOLA is publishing a first version of guidance for HB24-1152, the accessory dwelling units law, to help explain how the law works and support compliance for local governments subject to this law, as well as those interested in opting in. The guidance contains a summary of the law, guidance for how local governments can implement the law, and examples of how local governments can change their land use codes to comply.

Announcement and Webinar Recording: RFP for 2024 Land Use and Housing Laws

The Colorado Department of Local Affairs (DOLA) is now requesting proposals from consultants to support implementation of several laws passed by the Colorado General Assembly in the 2024 legislative session. Questions on the request for proposals are due at 2 p.m. Mountain Standard Time on August 26 and final proposals are due September 11 at 2 p.m. Mountain time. All questions must be submitted in writing to Brenda Lujan. 

Colorado Parking Management Best Practices Study Survey

The new law related to parking minimums directs the state to create best practices and technical assistance materials related to optimizing parking supply and managing it in a way that increases the production of market-rate and affordable housing. In particular, the legislation called out promoting examples and best practices related to parking maximums, demand management, needs of residents with low rates of car ownership, shared parking agreements, and others.
