Rental Assistance for the Marshall Fire Disaster
The Temporary Rental Assistance Program is designed to support Low-to-Moderate Income households (LMI) in Louisville, Superior, and unincorporated Boulder County that were damaged or destroyed in the Marshall Fire on December 30th, 2021. This grant program, which is funded by Community Development Block Grant- Disaster Recovery funds (CDBG-DR) is intended to assist with the financial gap associated with the cost of Additional Living Expenses (ALE).
Eligibility
To be eligible for the program persons and property must meet the following criteria:
- Marshall Fire affected homeowners who are currently living in temporary housing while their primary residence is under rehabilitation or reconstruction.
- Renters who are currently living in temporary housing while their primary residence is under rehabilitation or reconstruction via HRP.
- 80% of Area Median Income (AMI) households who do not have a gap in reconstruction or rehabilitation costs for their dwelling unit
- Homeowners must have been the owner of record of the damaged property on December 31, 2021.
- Applicants’ ALE must not have been longer than 18 months
How to Apply
At this time no applications are open for the Temporary Rental Assistance Program. The program is expected to open up for application Fall 2023. DOLA will post a press release and will give updates to local organizations and local governments with more information.
Rental Assistance
The maximum assistance per rental unit is up to twelve (12) months. Extensions will be made on a case by case basis.
Calculating Rental Assistance
Households who are accepted into the program will pay up to 35% of monthly income towards total housing expenses. If the mortgage plus rent expense exceeds 35% of household monthly income, CDBG-DR funds can be used to cover the difference for the household receiving rental assistance funds for a maximum of $25,000 per household.
