Senate Bill 24-174 requires DOLA to create two statewide reports: the Strategic Growth Report (due October 30, 2025) and the Natural Land and Agricultural Opportunities Report (due December 31, 2025). Thank you to everyone who has contributed feedback so far to help shape these important documents.

DOLA is excited to release the first draft of the Vital Landscapes and Resources Planning Guide. We are looking for input from local governments and regional entities on the Planning Guide, which is a step by step practical guide for planning staff, planning commissioners, local government officials, and the public to consider during the comprehensive plan update process in Colorado communities.

On July 11, 2025, the Department of Local Affairs (DOLA), through the Division of Local Government (DLG), published a new resource supporting further implementation of State land use and housing legislation.
